Recyle

Postby Mavikiz » Sat Jul 22, 2017 5:42 am

I am happy living in North Cyprus but I really loathe putting stuff that can be recycled in the bin.
Yes I take stuff regularly to Shah markets small recycle centre and recycle cardboard boxe, but its not enough.

Why has some entrepreneur not worked out that there is money in recycling?

In many poor countries families make their living from selling on recycled goods to businesses who make a fortune from this rubbish.

So why are local municipalities so backward in seeing the advantages of recycling?

Afraid it is because of a Cypriot disease Mavikiz.

It is called "Apathy", it is also what prevents the TRNC from bothering to counter GC propaganda.

Sad but true... same for people dumping rubbish or just throwing it out of the window while driving

I take my plastic bags to KAR, at least they re-use them. However I agree the fact that there isn't official recycling goes against the grain.

When we were in the UK we watched our dust bin men throw everything into the back of their truck so it was a waste of our time sorting and putting things in the different bins.

Here in Portugal every tiny village has recycling bins for paper , bottles and plastic/metal plus general rubbish.

When we lived in TRNC there were a few places that collected plastic bottles tops . Think one of the collection points was the Citizens advice in Girne. Perhaps other members could advise.
