If the car is more than three years old you can not import it. I have looked into importing myself and think it isnot worth it 65%duty on the value they put on it and the paper work a nightmare .

Thank you for the reply Old Trucker.

I was thinking to import a very cheap car 500 pounds.. i cant pay for a new car :D

thank you again.

Do you know any car dealers who can let me buy a car with installments without dealing with banks?

plus i was thinking to go to the UK and drive the car by myself.

Or if you know anyone who wants to sell a car i would appreciate your help or even a cheap motor.

Many thanks,
Noorideen

you cannot import a car unless you have owned it personally for 5 years. As I found out to my cost.

Here is the link to the British Residents Society to which you could apply to be a member, some people think they are a bit stuffy but, in my opinion, worth joining if you need to know anything.

If you scroll down to the last paragraph it gives you information and links to the info you asked for plus other paragraphs for car related items.

Even if it gives you a start to understand the basics as things change all the time.

You must have owned your car personally for 5 years, when I drove my car over it I had owned it for 4 yrs (even tho I checked before I came across, and showed my log book and they said it was ok). When I arrived was told by customs at Girne port that I could only drive it for a month then lock it up for 11months of export it again! Went to customs in Nicocia and had to go back each month for an extention, after 3 months they would no longer extend so had to purchase Tourist Plates (at a cost). When the time was up for me to legally import my car was told before I could I would have to take it off the island and re-import the car (this is Cyprus) and no you cannot drive it South for a day and import, so back on the ferry overnight to turkey then back again (nightmare journey) finally all paperwork in place and I imported my car, it's now a 10 year old Kia Rio diesel, and back then it cost me £1,500 to get her legal...............would I do it again..............NO
